New Smyrna Beach

We took our first road trip to Grandpop and Nana's house at the beach. Aunt Tracey and Uncle Z came down from Philly to meet Woody. We had a great time, and the kids got spoiled by all.
The waitress gave Samantha a pirate outfit, which she wore proudly. She even shared it with her daddy when we got back to the condo.

Samantha and Woody outside our "bricks" at New Smyrna. Woody is waiting patiently for his, but Samantha enjoyed stomping on her brick. As usual, Samantha had no fear of the ocean. The waves were pretty fierce while we were there, but that did not stop her.
Samantha spent some time with her friend Cole. Cole's dad and Ernie are good friends from high school. They just had a baby two weeks after Woody, and Samantha keeps asking about them.
We snuck out for a few adult hours one night. Ernie and Uncle Z posed for a picture while the band was blasting some cover song. We left just as the place began to get super crazy.
Samantha took a break from the waves and snuggled with Woody on a towel. I wish you could see her blue lips and blood shot eyes.

Samantha, Granpop, and Daddy went to "Fishstock." It was a fishing festival, but of course Samantha found something to ride.
Ernie got these Thing 1 and Thing 2 outfits for the kids before Woody was born. It was the only thing we had bought since we didn't know what we were having. They looked cute in them, and got many compliments at breakfast. Samantha wanted pancakes, so went went down to the Beacon to make her wish come true.

Grandpop bought them a fish balloon, which Woody and Samantha loved. They popped it before the trip was over! Woody loved his Aunt Tracey. He is already a ladies man! He did a great job and just hung out.

Woody likes to sleep with his daddy in the morning. You can see who he gets his sleep position from:
We took the jogger and got great use out of it. Grandpop took them on a walk on the beach and to the park every morning.

The Pool is open

Samantha was very happy to hear that the outdoor pool is now open for the summer. She loves to swim, and the kiddie pool is just the right size for her.
It was a little chilly for the pool, but she and Ernie still had some fun. I stayed on the side with Woody, and decided that his first time in the pool will be on a much warmer day. The big opening is next weekend, but we will be in Florida visiting Nana and Grandpop. Woody will get his first beach experience and Samantha can swim in a heated pool and the ocean!

Region Charity Golf Classic at Ross Bridge

We went to the Regions Charity Golf Classic this past Saturday. It is part of the Senior PGA tour and is a big deal around here. We actually went last year, so we knew it would be a good outing for the kids. Samantha always likes the bus ride from the parking lot to the course. Woody enjoyed his first bus ride and fell asleep. I felt like I was going to fall off the seat at any moment because we had the craziest drivers. If these people drive school buses for a living, pray for the children riding them.
We somehow get free passes to the Alabama Power Company tent. It is nice to be able to park somewhere and keep Samantha occupied. She kept yelling, "Goooaaal," at the people below, and I kept telling her that we were not at a soccer match. Ernie was very proud!
A rare family photo. A nice Asian family took a liking to Woody and suggested they take a picture. Samantha had decided that it was fun to climb into Woody's stroller. She then wanted to hold him and love all over him as usual.

New Bedroom

We moved Samantha to what used to be the guest room about a week ago. This way Woody will have her old room, which looks the way it did when we moved with the crib in it. The office now has the guest bed in it and everything is done. Woody is still in the pack and play upstairs with us at night, but he can at least start to get used to his room during the day. All we have left is to make some new curtains for Samantha's room.

Weekly update

Samantha found a stage and some music, so the dancing began. She really has begun to take a fancy to classic rock.
She still loves her baby brother and asks to hold him all the time. You just have to watch her when she decides she is done holding him. If she could toss him off her lap, she would! This is the new Blazer statue outside Bartow Arena. When we heard they were putting up a dragon statue, we thought it was going to be an iron piece of work. Instead they put up this cartoonish "Blaze" which Samantha likes to visit. There is a sign that says to keep off of the statue--she listens real well:)

We are in trouble when she becomes a teenager. This is what she goes for at Target and then runs as fast as she can away from you. She has her girly moments when she is not knee deep in dirt. The one thing she really seems not to care about is potty training. I am trying anything to try and get her to go like a big girl. Here she is watching a potty DVD and decided to cover herself up while sitting on her little potty. She went one time that day, so I guess we have a little progress. At this rate, Woody will be showing her how to use the big potty.

Do they look related?

Can you tell which one is which? I was organizing some photo files, and it was the first time that I thought that the two of them looked alike. It was hard to see, since she had a head full of dark hair and his head is full of light blonde hair. Both of these photos were taken right after they were born.

Mother's Day One Year Ago

I was messing around on Smilebox and went back to see the first one that I sent. It happened to be last year's Mother's Day card. I thought it was interesting to see how much Samantha has changed in exactly one year. We had just moved to Alabama and she had just started to dance. It is hard to imagine that Woody will acting like this next year:

Happy Mother's Day!

We sent this to all of our relatives and friends that are moms, but I thought I would add my first Smilebox greeting to our blog. We like to send these for special occasions, and they are a great way to keep up with everybody. We hope everybody has a great weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!

I hope you enjoyed Samantha's dance to Tina Turner. She caught the performance on Oprah and made me play it over and over. The recording was only the second time she watched it and if you listen closely you will hear her ask for me to play it again. Needless to say, I saved it on the DVR, and will know all the words and moves to "Proud Mary" before the day is over. My favorite is when she mimics them bowing at the end. She is one special little girl!

Who me? What are you talking about?

I love it when you ask Samantha if she did something, and she says no....
Did you play with the blue marker? "No!"
Did you try to use it as lipstick? "Yeeesss Mommy, lipstick."

At least she hasn't figured out how to color on Woody, yet:)

Woody's Two Month Check Up

Woody is 9 weeks old today and had his check-up. He is 10 lbs 15 oz, 23 inches long, and his head is 15.5 inches in diameter. He is growing like a weed and is getting cuter everyday! He had four shots and handled it well.

Samantha was adored by the nurses, and they spoiled her with some treats. She is going through the "mine" phase, and is getting spunkier every minute. I am in trouble if Woody decides to follow in his sister's footsteps
Woody is already fielding offers from college recruiters. UAB has put there stamp of approval on him!
